How well do you know the Exe Estuary?

How often do you enjoy walking its banks?

Do you want to play a key part in protecting the Estuary?

The Exe Estuary Management Partnership is looking for volunteers to join our Exe Estuary Friends of Group.  To join all you have to do is let us know if you regularly walk an area that covers a part of the Estuary, which could be your regular dog walking circuit or a lunch time stroll from work, we’ll tell you what to look out for and you simply report back to us what you have seen.  It doesn’t matter if you walk the route once a day or once a week; we want to know what you are seeing on the Exe.

Grey Seal

The kinds of things we want you to look out for are seal sightings, invasive species and activities on the Exe.  But don’t worry we will explain everything in our quarterly news bulletins that will give full details and pictures of what we are monitoring for and why.

The Friends of Group can make a real difference to the conservation and protection of the Estuary such as by reporting sightings of Himalayan Balsam, an invasive plant species that takes over entire areas and chokes out native plant species that are essential for local wildlife, we can organise its removal before it spreads across the rest of the Estuary.

As a Friend of the Exe you will receive free goodies such as guided walks, social events, a password to a Friends only section of the Exe Estuary website, and you’ll be the first to hear Estuary news and event dates.
