There are a variety of local groups around the estuary which meet to discuss various topics of interest related to the Exe. Here are a few of the key groups.
River and Canal User Group
The River and Canal User Group serves the joint interest of the user organisations of the waterway and the City Council in its management of the upper region of the Port of Exeter. They assist in the promotion of the best use of the waterway and contribute to the operation of the canal, basin and the Quay.
Exmouth Water Users Group
Local Exmouth group who meet regularly at Exe Sailing Club to discuss items of interest for local businesses and club representatives.
Exeter Port User Group (EPUG)
The objective of this group is to act in its capacity as a Port User Group for the Port of Exeter in accordance with the National Directions Panel Code of Conduct on Harbour Directions. The EPUG aims to fairly represent Exe Estuary port users as an advisory and consultative body to the Port of Exeter Authority. To review, comment on and assist with developing and implementing the work of the Port Authority.
Exmouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce
Active since 1896, the Exmouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce are the leading representative of businesses in the town, actively engaging with Exmouth Town, East Devon District and Devon County Councils. Their mission is to make Exmouth a thriving business-friendly town, through various initiatives and regular meetings and social events.
