A fond farewell to our Exe Estuary Officer

A photo of our Exe Estuary Officer, Steph

In July this year, our Exe Estuary Officer, Stephanie Harper-Chung, left the Exe Estuary Management Partnership to move onto a new role at the Environment Agency.

“After fifteen years in the coastal team at Devon County Council, I have made the decision to move on from my role as Exe Estuary Officer. I have truly enjoyed the opportunities that have been offered to me during my time here, particularly working with all the people that live, play and work around the estuary, in our shared passion to make the Exe such an extraordinary place for people and wildlife. The Exe will always hold a very special place in my heart, but I still plan to visit often and continue to enjoy all that our beautiful estuary has to offer. I will miss my role greatly, but I plan to put my experience to good use in my new position within the Estuarine and Coastal Team at the Environment Agency. Hopefully I will see some of you again in the next chapter of my career!”

Our Exe Estuary Management Partnership Chairman also wished to say a few words.

“I would like to publicly thank Steph for her fifteen years of service to Devon County Council, especially, ‘The Exe Estuary Management Partnership’.

As Chairman of the Partnership, I found Steph’s knowledge and understanding, required to administer the Partnership, an asset. Her main aim was the protection of the Exe Estuary. Steph’s support to myself over the past eight years has been tremendous. As with all organisations, not all was as smooth as we had wished but as a team, but we took the bull by the horns. We listened to those who use the Exe and set out to improve communications throughout the Partnership.
I would like to wish Steph and her family all the very best in her new life with The Environment Agency and hope to receive her continued support in the future.”

We want to thank Steph for her continued support and generous commitment to the partnership and wish her the best of luck in her new role.

Eleanor Ward, our coastal support officer, has been continuing the work of the Exe Estuary Management Partnership and will continue to respond to new enquiries.
